- Physiotherapists focus on movement-based rehabilitation, often incorporating manual therapy when needed.

FAQs
Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?
No — you don’t always need a referral. You can often come directly to us for an assessment. However, if your situation is complex or involves surgery, we may recommend liaising with your GP or specialist.
What should I wear / bring to my first appointment?
Wear loose, comfortable clothes that allow movement (e.g. shorts, T-shirt). You may need to expose or access the area of pain (e.g. knee, shoulder). Bring any medical records, imaging (X-rays, scans), or relevant reports you have, plus a list of medications you’re taking. Also, bring comfortable shoes.
Can physiotherapy help chronic or long-term pain?
Absolutely. Even if symptoms have been persistent, physiotherapy can help by correcting movement patterns, stabilising weak areas, managing load, and teaching self-management strategies. It’s not just for new injuries.
What can I expect in my first session?
In your first session (typically 45–60 mins), we’ll take a detailed history (how & when your pain started, your health background), do a movement and physical assessment (strength, flexibility, alignment), explain our findings, and begin treatment — which may include hands-on work or light exercises. We’ll also agree on goals and a plan.
